Description

FC St. Pauli was officially founded in 1910. Its predecessor club, the Hamburg-St. Pauli Turnverein, had already existed 48 years earlier. The first club gymnasium was inaugurated on Feldstraße in 1862, the year the club was founded. Turnerstraße is still a reminder of this location today.
From 1863, the gymnasts began to "conquer" the neighboring Heiligengeistfeld for their exercises. In 1902, they left the old hall behind and moved over for good. Over the decades, high bar exercises were gradually replaced by ball sports - and 161 years later, FC St. Pauli is still right where it all began. That's a good thing.
